- TEXAS STATE - HOMESCHOOL Baseball Tournament Sponsored by Northside Baseball Academy |
Get ready for baseball at its best as the Northside Baseball Academy hosts the 5th Annual Texas State Homeschool Baseball Tournament, Thursday through Saturday, March 25-27, 2010, at Barton Park in Conroe, Texas. This three-day tournament represents some of the best high school baseball talent in the state as eight teams representing Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Ft. Worth, Bryan-College Station, Central Texas and Orange County compete for the Silver Star trophy in a unique pool-play plus playoffs structure.
Purpose of Tournament
The purpose of this tournament is three-fold. It is first and foremost a time for homeschool baseball teams in Texas to gather together for a time of fun, Christian fellowship and friendly competition. Secondly, it is an opportunity for Texas homeschool teams to participate in a trophy event as they compete for the honor of being the “Texas Champion” for that year. Whereas Regional Tournaments often split teams from Texas across several locations, this tournament provides an event where Texas teams can compete for a Texas trophy. Finally, it is an opportunity for college and professional scouts to see a wealth of Texas baseball talent that might otherwise go unnoticed during the course of a regular high school season. Seniors and Juniors on homeschool teams represent some of the finest baseball talent in the state, and the Texas tournament is set up to give these scouts an opportunity to see all of them in a single setting.

Tournament Structure
Teams are divided into two pools of four teams each. During pool play, each team will play each of the other teams in its respective pool once. Upon completion of pool play, the top two teams in each pool advance to the playoffs on Saturday. The bottom two teams in each pool will participate in consolation games on Friday evening.
The first day of the tournament is entirely for pool play games (eight of the total twelve pool play games to be played). Pool play continues (and is completed) on the second day, at which point, final pool standings are established. This will be followed by consolation games between the four teams not advancing to the playoffs. The third and final day of the tournament consists of two playoff games, followed by the 3rd Place Game and, finally, the Championship Game. Actual game times are provided below:
