Introduction
Get ready for baseball at its best as the Northside Baseball Academy hosts the 3rd Annual Texas State Homeschool Baseball Tournament, Friday and Saturday, March 13-14 at Barton Park in Conroe, Texas. This two-day, six-team tournament represents some of the best high school baseball talent in the state as six teams from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Ft. Worth, Bryan-College Station, and Central Texas compete for the Silver Star trophy in a unique two-day bracket-plus-playoffs structure.
Purpose of Tournament
The purpose of this tournament is three-fold. It is first and foremost a time for homeschool baseball teams in Texas to gather early in the season for fun, Christian fellowship and friendly competition. It gives each team an opportunity to see what it has, test its strengths, discover its weaknesses, and prepare for the upcoming season, including Regional Tournament and World Series events. Secondly, it is an opportunity for Texas homeschool teams to participate in a trophy event as they compete for the honor of being the “Texas Champion” for that year. Whereas Regional Tournaments often split teams from Texas across several locations, this tournament provides an event where Texas teams can compete for a Texas trophy. Finally, it is an opportunity for college and professional scouts to see a wealth of Texas baseball talent that might otherwise go unnoticed during the course of a regular high school season. Seniors and Juniors on homeschool teams represent some of the finest baseball talent in the state, and the Texas tournament is set up to give these scouts an opportunity to see all of them in a single setting.
